Should you run virtual something?
No is the simple answer. Possibly is the complex answer. Virtual
somethings can be great in a large environment or where you need to run
a number of OS's, such as software design, but for the vast majority
of Small or Medium Businesses, don't waste your time mucking around
with them.
Virtual Vendors
The main ones are VMWare, Citrix
and Microsoft. Desktops are generally not that critical, but servers
are. So if you are going to run a Virtual server or number of virtual
servers, then you are best off consulting an expert and sticking with
VMWare or Citrix for the top end. It's highly unlikely any medium size
business would require this sort of thing. Even for desktops, we keep
away from Microsoft and stick with VMWare.
